What will
it cost me?
Choosing, and installing, a new kitchen with the mass of products
available, is rather like buying a new car. If you know the type of
car you want and recognise the reputation of the model, you still
have to choose from a list of extras to make the car into one that
is ideally suited for you and your budget.
You may choose air conditioning, a top of the range stereo, power
assisted steering, anti-lock brakes, and service from a reputable
dealer, the price for the car increases accordingly.
THIS IS TRUE OF KITCHENS
That is why when we are asked, 'How much is
a new kitchen?', you never get a straight answer!
However, with experience we can say our kitchens start around £5,000
for a modest size; including fitting, and our average cost is around
£10,000. This amount will buy new cabinets,
sink and taps, a
full compliment of appliances, worktop,
and light fittings for an average style
kitchen.
Installation would be included to within a metre of existing
appliances but no major rebuilding, decorating, rewiring, plumbing
or gas work. If your home is bigger, or there is remodelling to be
done, granite worktops (e.g. Corian), or luxury features required
such as wooden floor or something similar, your kitchen will almost
certainly cost more. We have had completed projects exceed £35,000,
so there is no upper boundary!
If the costs for the kitchen items total more than your budget
allows, there are many ways this can be trimmed without scrapping a
good working design. We ask that you give us the opportunity to
discuss this more fully. Cost trimming can be productive and
informative. How we approach these measures can tell you a lot about
the general quality of our work.
For example, a designer may suggest a vinyl floor instead of tiled,
a laminate worktop instead of granite, or a manufacturer of
appliance over another. There are other ways of cutting costs that
you may consider. As we can also make-to-measure, you can rest
assured that the cabinetry isn't going to go out of fashion and
therefore out of stock.
You might then consider postponing installation for part of the
kitchen that isn't involved in the principal working area. Larger
cabinets are cheaper than two smaller ones. Less expensive doors
could be an option. Do you really need to buy another new appliance
or would your old one last, and look different in a new kitchen?
Also, consider doing some of the work yourself. It isn't uncommon
for the labour charge to account for more than a fifth of the
overall budget. You may want to tackle the decorating side or know
someone who can do the service work for you. A new kitchen that is
well designed and professionally installed will add value to your
home.
When you select
'Heart of
your Home',
you will be working with a company, and staff, that will support
you, throughout the installation, and after with their service care.
